Bruny Island | Tasmania

We travel to Bruny Island which is about 30 mins drive and a short ferry ride from Hobart. Bruny is made up of a North and South Island which are separated by a narrow isthmus, "the neck".

North Bruny Island, drier than the south, is made up largely of open pastures and light bushland, whilst South Bruny is hilly, heavily timbered and includes large rainforest areas. We join Rob Pennicott's multi-award winning Bruny Island Cruises. Rob offers one of Tasmania's leading wilderness and wildlife adventure cruises and is the winner of Tasmania's Best Tourist Attraction in 2006 and  2008.

Hop on board a three hour cruise along the coastline of Bruny Island and experience the rugged Southern Tasmanian coastline. Spot the island's abundant sea and coastal wildlife such as seals, dolphins, whales, albatross and other seabirds. Sit at the bottom of Bruny Island's towering sea cliffs, feel the joy of being surrounded by 1000s of seals and watching dolphins surf on the bow wave of the boat.

Rob Pennicott’s company also offer an eco cruise along the Tasman Peninsula, about an hour and a half drive from Hobart, discovering Cape Pillar and Tasman Island.

Travel beside the enormous sea cliffs and you won’t be surprised to hear that they are the highest in the southern hemisphere. This shoreline is truly unique. There are a variety of rock types in the area and some, such as dolerite, are millions of years old. The formation of these rocks is what really makes the coastline what it is – beautiful! The boats weave you in and out of the towering cliffs and islands of the Tasman Peninsula.
