Dan Paris: Reporter: Postcards Australia

Raised in Esperance on the south coast of Western Australia, surrounded by pristine shores and untouched bushland, Dan developed a love for our natural environment and a passion for landscape photography. Over the years he has enjoyed both, devoting most of his time to exploring the wilderness with his camera.

Dan prefers to capture an image traditionally onto film without the use of colour correcting filters or digital manipulation.

In 2002 he embarked on a photographic expedition around Australia in search of remote locations yet to be captured on film. Understandably, the journey continues to this day, having evolved into a life long commitment.

During 2006 Dan travelled for six months visiting and photographing Aboriginal communities throughout Western Australia. The project Indigenous Identity offered the chance to explore the lives of our land’s traditional custodians. Since returning he has released his second book sharing his experiences while living on the Dampier Peninsula.

Dan’s latest book on Western Australia is result of five years exploring the state and includes a collection of images from an expedition through the deserts of Western Australia.

In front of the camera, Dan has played the role of Drew Kirk (Neighbours), Nathan Varcoe (MDA) and Renegade (Mcleod’s Daughters).

He has hosted various natural history documentaries and in 2007 and 09 was a presenter on the travel program Postcards WA.

His images are sold to collectors of fine art and displayed in galleries throughout Western Australia.
